Flood Cell 8

INTRODUCTION

This small flood cell of 123 hectares sits on the north side of the upper estuary approximately half way between Snape and Aldeburgh. The Flood Cell is made up of permanent wet grassland, deciduous woodland, fen and arable, freshwater ditches and a freshwater flight pond, and a freshwater aquifer used for irrigation. The Landowners in this flood cell have taken on the maintenance themselves, as the cost benefit ratio is too low for government funding.
